An Overview of the Liberal Chamber
of Commerce
What is the Chamber of
Commerce?
The chamber is a not-for-profit state chartered
voluntary organization of business, industry,
and professional men and women who have pooled
their individual talents and resources together
for the common good of the community. By doing
so, the Chamber is able to work on objectives
designed to enhance the economy of Liberal and
improve the quality of life in our area.
How does the Chamber Function?
The Liberal Chamber functions from a set of
policies, procedures, and objectives as approved
by its Board of Directors. Positions for the 22
member board are as follows: 15 members elected on staggered terms, the Ambassador
Chairman, Past President, and 5 members appointed annually by the incoming President.
The Board of Directors plans a Program of Work
and makes policy decisions based on input from
the membership. The day-to-day administration of
the chamber is managed by a full time
professional staff accountable to the Board.
Why is it important to have an active Chamber?
An excellent Chamber of Commerce encourages a
thriving community. The Chamber makes a positive
difference in economic development, business
retention, expansion, and quality of life issues
in Liberal.
Why Invest in the Chamber?
The Chamber is the front door to our community-
a place where visitors and newcomers get their
first impression of Liberal. The Chamber
develops information, prepares data and
brochures that tell the "Liberal Story". If the
Chamber didn't answer the thousands of questions
about our community made in person, by mail, by
e-mail, and by telephone, who would?
You prosper as our city prospers. If our
community is thriving and growing, your business
is strengthened and your opportunities are
broadened. The Chamber coordinates the talents
and efforts of local business and professional
people, people working together to promote
Liberal. If the Chamber didn't stand ready to
pursue any matter which can make Liberal a
better place in which to live and make a living,
who would?
What the Chamber of Commerce is Not
A Chamber of Commerce is not a department of the
city, county, or state governments. A Chamber is
not a social, service, welfare or charitable
club or organization.
Mission Statement:
The mission of the Liberal Chamber of Commerce
is to create opportunities for positive business
conditions, enhancing the quality of life in the
community.
